Love a bit of poetry Andrew. Here is my contribution (I should add, written from the perspective of the Gateway):

Sea slops sluggishly in the bay
With not a ripple to disturb
It's glassy surface, or the shore

Sea birds gather in ragged clumps
At dawn and dusk to discuss
    The strange white cold

    Snow covers hills and allotments
And no-one has gritted so far
    Footprints cross the hallowed lawns

    Elderly chaps become apoplectic
    At the desecration thus revealed
Which they are unable to control (aah!)

    Foolish motorists persist in
    Sallying forth regardless, and
To my joy, slip and slither madly

Trees on the cliff stand stiff and still
    Powdered with a snowy dust
Reminiscent of cow parsley in summer

    Ancient ruins and modern shacks
    Alike, have mysterious charm
Flaws air-brushed by an icy hand

Boats and birds, beach and balconies
Frozen in the harsh grasp of winter
The world stands still and wonders
