I came past the play area in Pencester Gardens this morning there were a few mum's & the small children using it which is nice to see> But I did notice that most of the steel plates were in a bit of a state they were very rusty in parts,& could be a hazard to the children that use it. Such a shame to see looking run down. lets hope it will be painted up very soon.

When I saw the thread title I thought for one glorious moment that the Priory area was finally getting one after all the false dawns and hollow promises. Never mind only 16 years now since the one we had closed maybe a replacement will arrive in the upcoming weeks?

The skate park at Pencester is in a very poor state due to it being well past its design life and is now costing DDC significant amounts to maintain and keep safe. Whilst the skate park users appreciate that things need to be done properly including consultation and a proper strategy for open spaces needs to be delivered, they have been talking to DDC for 6 years about building a new facility with minimal progress on the part of the council
The childrens play area next to it is in much better condition and is as well used as can be expected given the 10-20 "day drinkers" that inhabit Pencester Gardens daily

It really is time that something was done about the undesirables that plague Pencester, the number of times I read about their intimidating or bad behaviour shows how much of a nuisance they are.

As you know Keith from your time as a district and county councillor the present allotments then under used were earmarked for a play area. Complaints about a noise issue put a stop to that. I live three doors from the play school and during the summer months they are all out the back making a racket the same as the Friday fun club and to be honest I really enjoy the sound of children having a good time. Never mind though.

Allotments couldn't be used for a play area as you know howard it would need a major switch in policy and law
so it was always a non starter

Children playgrounds are last on list in this town, in fact they are last on list for everything that is why Parents go out of town with their children for leisure -

The following are just two of the many examples. of the kind of comments I read nearly every day about Pencester. It really is time something was done by the police and also the seemingly silent or should I say dormant Councillors for that area whoever they may be....
..."I have every empathy for people who end up with a life that is consumed by drugs or drink coz no one wants that life but when my 7 year old daughter picks up what looks like a jewelry box then opens it before I get a chance to stop her and it turns out to be what looks like mini scales covered in white powder clearly drugs of some sort !!! My empathy for those scum bags goes out the window!
I've seen needles down that skank hole park and they're always there daily taking up every bench at the front of the park drinking their special brew and generally being loud and angry , its annoying but it usually just makes me feel lucky not to be in their position but after my kids life was put at risk because they're too smashed up to pick up their drug covered belongings I can't help but feel mad that theyre not stopped from hanging around there drinking in public , maybe If some effort was put in to make them move along out of the park due to not being allowed to drink in public then our local park wouldnt be such a hazard for kids."...
..." I was walking up past the post office on Pencester with my three children and some junkie was walking right by us calling his dealer and asking for one of each. Then to make it worse he asked if he had a spare pin cause he hadn’t got one. Now from the little knowledge I’ve got he’s clearly ordering his Crack and heroin and asking the dealer for a Needle to jack up with. I’m so glad my kids are too young to understand but it’s no wonder people don’t go into town anymore!"...

PCSOs have been patrolling the town centre in pairs this week and on Tuesday they walked straight past a known thirsty person clutching a can of the special stuff on one of the benches outside M & S.
This is just a public relations exercise to appease the Mayor and other town councillors who want to see visible policing.

A shame the woman mentioned in the following comment on FB was not removed today, this was posted about tea time

........
"I have never been more disgusted in my life. My children have just had to witness a fully grown drunken mess of a woman take a SH*T in pencester gardens whilst they are innocently playing. What the fricking hell is wrong with this town!!!! Dirty scum!!!"

Nothing wrong with the town - a lot wrong with a very small minority of our residents

LOL sorry but someone drinking from a can makes them not a bad person but a thirsty one. Was that person swearing, rolling around, being abusive, making a show of themselves or just sat having a drink he/she liked. There is a difference this is where those who sit in high seats know nothing of life because they are not a part of it nor do they want to be. This country needs a good kick in the backside and needs someone with bloody sense to know what they are talking about and acting on it.
You put seats with covers over them you will get all sorts you do not have someone monitoring that area then it continues. We used to have toilet attendants once in the real days when people had sense now look what happens in the toilets and mothers and children have to use, them same as parks.

Mayor and a lot of Cllrs dont care too hoots about this town if they did things would have changed years ago. That is the facts, how many mayors and Cllrs have we had down the years. Its not just the now people in sitting in years been going on such muck in this town 'who really cares' - 'who will make a change'?
