  Hi all,
  
  Just to let you know that the new venture of my brother Nick and I, Platform 1 cafe at Deal railway station, opened this morning at its regular unearthly time of 5.30am.
  
  Thanks very much to Dover Forum for your excellent support of our project. It was good to see the Walkdens, Nigel C and Andy Stucken at the launch do the other Saturday.
  
  All the best and we hope to see you at Platform 1 cafe in Deal soon.

  Ah now...thats a pity. The Doverforum team did NOT get an invite to this opening launch..it would have made a very good picture feature for both us and Station 1.

  Jean and I were very happy to come over and wish you and Nick well. I thought the coffee was very good and of course so was your welcome.
  
  I took some photos, I'll put them on the laptop and see if I can load them up on here.

  Took the train to Deal today for an appointment and popped into the Platform 1 cafe on the way back for a coffee and a sarnie. Took a quick snapshot of the entrepreneurs in their venue just as my train was rolling in. Nice to see a traditional railway buffet restored and let us hope it all works out well for them.
  
  
  

  

  
  
  
  Interested to see the name on this high speed train in Dover Priory. The first Javelin was named after Dame Kelly Holmes and this one is named after the eleven times Paralympics gold medallist Dame Tanni Grey-Thompson. Others include olympic medallists Jamie Staff, Steve Backley, Steve Redgrave, Rebecca Adlington, Chris Hoy, Ben Ainslie, Daley Thompson, Duncan Goodhew, Katherine Grainger and Sebastian Coe.
  
  Would have liked to have seen one named after Alison Streeter, Queen of the Channel, as the trains run to Dover and she is a local girl albeit famed more for her endurance than her high speed.

  BBC Radio Kent broadcast live from our cafe this morning during the breakfast show, and Nick did three interview slots: at 6.20, 7.20 and just after 8.30.
