They should have rejected it outright given the totally inappropriate location for a development of that size. Their own planning officers recommended a reduction in the number of properties but the developers, knowing they had DDC support, started to bleat that the diminished size would be unprofitable. Strong local opposition supported by the CPRE which 'groper' Elphicke took great delight in publicly vilifying. Finally Supreme Court judgment went against DDC with certain councillors being mentioned by name as failing to do their job properly. Mercifully, for the time being at least, the whole wretched project has been omitted from the local plan.
