Be careful with this one! Very tempting to have a go but be aware that they 'retain the right to use images to promote Samphire Hoe' . They do not, the copyright of the image remains with the photographer, by offering a small prize they are getting advertiseing images which would cost hundreds of pounds for free. Also of note is the missing details of the 10 prizes, what are they? What value etc? Why give your work away for dree? This is a cheap dodge to get good photography on the cheap, go ahead if you want to, but you have been warned! I would'nt touch this with a barge pole.

I see what you mean P W-B, the sense of achievement and the warm glow of success could well be marred by the realisation that you could be taking work away from the professionals ...........not a happy picture!

Do nothing and nothing happens.

this takes me back to the "white cliffs of sussex" saga a few years back when ray spotted the error on the town council website.
the town council then asked people to send in their best photos of the white cliffs and one would go on their website, photography coves were up in arms saying that the council pays for all other services but expects photographers to work for free.

Re Samphire Hoe Photographic Completion
For my sins I am the one who is organising the photography competition at Samphire Hoe, I am sorry to see disappointment about it. Yes we are trying to get photographs to show to visitors the pleasure of a winter visit. Yes the prizes will be small depending on what prizes are donated to us. We hope photographers and happy snappers will enjoy the opportunity to take and show their creations to visitors.
Our events and projects here are run on a shoe string budget and are mainly free to attend. We rely heavily on volunteers and good will to provide opportunities for tourists and local people to get out, find out and enjoy the countryside.
Our use of photographs are not to deprive anyone of income as we have no money to buy photographs we either take our own or use those donated to us. Exciting photographs allow us to promote the site and therefore encourage people to get fresh air and explore the local coast.
Currently we are working hard to develop a programme for our soon to be built Education Shelter of which the photo competition is just one project. I welcome offers of help and ideas of how we can make the shelter interesting to visitors to Samphire Hoe.
Please feel free to come into the office and discuss any issues you have with our service.
Kind Regards
Steve
