Shiela Amos has just informed me of the sad death of rev peter day.
many will know peter from st martins church where he used to help rev garrett with the services.
but peter also took services in other villages such as whitfield, guston and more.
i was only speaking to him before christmas and he was telling me how busy he was and all the church's he was visiting.
he was a dedicated christian, but always had time for you whether you were a believer or not.
another side of peter was that he was chair of the clarendon and westbury community association for many years taking over from rev garrett.
he guided the community for those years, and active in the many events up until shiela took over.
peter remained on the committee and a good advisor.
of course the clarendon and westbury comm assoc had close links with st martins church where in past years the annual xmas carols were held at the hall.
peter was a hard working christian who saw little wrong in others, but a very very friendly and dedicated person to st martins and beyond.
He will be a big loss to st martins and church's locally, and the community.
R.I.P. Peter
thankyou for all your help and kind words over the years

Peter and I were at school together, as was Ronnie Philpott. Each moving in different spheres we rarely met, except oddly enough each year at Mayor Making.
A very nice bloke.

Oh, that is a real shame, I am so sorry to hear this.
I spoke to his wife about the street lamp outside St. Martins in Church Road shortly before Christmas and she said he had had a heart-attack but was comfortable but waiting for a by-pass.
Rest in Peace Peter, you were a good, kind, man.
Roger
I was only aware of this gentleman , through families who had him conduct the funeral services of thier relatives, He was held in such high regard by them and they reported that his kindness and humanity made these difficult times much easier . He must have been a smashing man RIP

Peters wife Jean informed me of Peters death today, he had the by-pass operation last Tuesday, but unfortunately the heart attack that he had previously had, did more damage than previously thought, he died early hours of Friday morning, not getting over the operation, he will be greatly missed at the Community Centre, where he was vice-chair. RIP Peter

The funeral is on the 30th January, the service will be held at St Martins Church 10am, donations instead of flowers in box at the church, will be shared out to his favourite charities
