Charlie Elphicke is not participating in a sell off as it is not his to sell, it is currently a Trust Port and therefore the States to sell based on the recommendation of the Management Board and approval of the Secretary of State for Transport.
All that Charlie and the other committee members of the Dover Peoples Port Trust are doing is recognising that given the DHB have submitted a Port Revision Order request to the Secretary of State to allow them to put the port up for sale, that they need to mobilise if the port is to stay in local hands.
If the community and those of influence who want to see the port stay in local hands do nothing as you and Vic seem to be advocating then inevitably the Port will be sold to some foreign concern who will frankly pillage it for as much as they can make and all Mr Goldfields promises of community donations will be for naught.
Alex - by definition an "open evening" is just that open to all to have their say
