    Alexander read the link properly

What has been created is a "charitable industrial and provident society" for info on these see here http://www.diycommitteeguide.org/resource/info-sheet-industrial-provident-society
It's stated aim is the purchase of the Port of Dover, however initial membership subscriptions and funds raised in other approved ways will be used to create a fighting fund to pursue the stated aim and get the Dover Peoples Port Trust onto the short list of bidders for the port once a sale is agreed by the Secretary of State for Transport.

All of this is perfectly legal and above board, after all "charitable industrial and provident society" are not only registered with the Charities Commission but also the FSA.

From what I can see from my research this is a perfectly legitimate vehicle to use for the acquisition of the port as well as carrying on the trading activities of the port if a purchase is successful.

Vic I admire your passion but the decision to try to sell the port has been made by the DHB, hence their application to the Secretary of State For Transport - as Ian says Goldenballs and his mates need their pension fund topping up
