    The confidence I mention is only in reference to the running of the Port, not the idea of selling it.
    The rail investments in Calais you mention, Roger, are proof that we too will one day consider increasing freight by rail.
    As you, Richard and Brian rightly say, we need a rail link at Western Docks, but then this would change the DHB plan for a T2 built for freight by lorries. Subsequently their proposal for privatisation of the Port of Dover would become overhauled and defunct.

    I am rather amazed that in the last two years, the People port Trust hasn't ever considered a rail link. But as it is part of my 2 year old representation, I am confident it is being considered by the Department for Transport.
