  on the subject of gas and heating in general, we are reacching that time when the temeratures are dropping, boilers are now in full swing, inevitably some will pack up and need repairing.
  
  from experience i have found that the emergency lines are usually undermanned, best time to ring is in the early hours of the morning.
  
  this is not much fun when the ice is forming on the car windscreens outside, anyway after taking down all your details they will then ask whether there is any one elderly or chronically ill in the house.
  
  this obviously means that they are prioritising, far be it for me to suggest that anyone tells a lie to the gas company!!
