Paying bills
- 22 March 2016 11:25312233I suppose like everybody else I hated things when a 3 month bill for gas/electricity/phone etc came through the letterbox. Nowadays we have a choice - I don't like direct debits or standing orders, but love the card system where you can load money on in advance of the bill. Due to a hatred of debt I pay a lot more during the summer months so I don't get a shock with the Winter charges.
A couple of days ago my Council tax bill came through listing the monthly instalments and all the easy ways to pay. Logged on to DDC to pay the first 3 months, typed in my name then up comes my full address, telephone number, council tax reference - impressive I thought until I tried to pay. My first instalment is not due until the 5th April so as I don't technically owe them anything they rejected my intended payment. - Jan Higgins

22 March 2016 12:19312237I always pay my bills by direct debit so much easier and you can choose which day of the month they get paid.
Any over payment for the year's power supply comes in very useful just before Christmas with the money paid back into my bank account. Two free months at the end of the financial year with my DDC bill paid for a family indian meal up at Namaste, Swingate last night.
