    That example of broken paving is very bad, but any others of you who have the misfortune to ride round on a wheelchair will know that this is just par for the course in Dover. The pavements are in a parlous state. Many so-called dropped pavements are not - there is a lip of a couple of inches which is quite hard to negotiate when you are not feeling a hundred per cent. Paving stones are not level, there are holes, and irregularities all over the place which make going out on my own a project to undertake with more than a degree of trepidation.
