I know about Vista's problems, that's why I don't use it or recommend it. Clearly though there are people who use it with no problems, as you can see by previous posters.
I do share your view that it is worth people looking into changing over to Mac, but it wont be to everyone's taste, as it is different and will need a learning period for some to make that change.
I am glad you had no problems converting to a Mac, but it does have compatible issues, printers and scanners, and with some of the more sophisticated software.
As with everything else, we can all go on internet and pull out snippets to prove our points. Its all down to personal preference's in the end.
