GaryC, thousands use Vista without problems but according to a lot of sources on the web MILLIONS use it, hate it, have problems with it and have pretty much condemned it to the point that Microsoft had to reinstate old XP licences to peed-off users!
Paul, if you get an iMac then I will freely volunteer to get you started on it. There's nothing to learn - it is easier that winding up a wristwatch, it comes with everything you need pre-installed, and the one or two new thing are easier to learn than falling off a big lumpy log. You take it out the box, plug it in, and away you go!
I know a lot of people hate to change long standing habits but honestly, it will transform your life to the point where you will hardly know your using a computer, unlike Windows which has a nasty habit of reminding you thanks to all the bugs, crashes, viruses, spyware, complex set-ups, etc etc.
Anyway dude the offer's there....
