The Conservative Leader of Kent County Council has had an easy victory in the challenge to his leadership earlier this week. We spoke about this previously on a couple of threads. Not always in step with Downing Street ..particularly over education..Paul Carter has proved to be not only popular with voters because of his political positioning, but popular with his fellow councillors too. There were grumblings in some quarters clearly, hence the challenge to his leadership...but Paul bravely puts Kent first rather than succumb to Education Minister Gove and the Downing St dogma.
Two fellow Tory councillors challenged him but were given short shrift in the voting
Cllr Nick Chard got 11 votes
Cllr Nick Ferrin got 9 votes
Cllr Paul Carter romped it with 53 votes
...so that settles that.. in no uncertain terms.
Paul Carter comfortably remains in charge and is "keen to get on with the job"
