    The trouble is Howard, if that car was parked illegally (you did say it was on yellow lines), then the owner is committing an offence.

    Now that illegal parking has been de-criminalised, it is not the Police's responsibility to move them on or fine them - fining is done by the local authority, in this case DDC.

    My understanding was that they would come out if the vehicle in question was causing actual obstruction, which you have said, has been the case on many occasions.

    If vehicles are parked illegally, whether obstructing or not, it is the duty of the Enforcement Officer to issue a ticket. The fact that it raises income is irrelevant.

    Fairness doen't come into it I'm afraid Howard - sadly.

    Since the parking charges went up 3 years ago, I've not paid a penny for a parking ticket - I park further out and walk and definitely don't park on double yellow lines - unless with Jean.
