20:5570377bit of an old argument here but have to bring the subject up.
a b.m.w. motorised vehicle was parked outside of my house on double yellow lines, to my knowledge for at least 3 hours.
about half an hour ago it was ticketed by an official.
o.k. fair play, the driver broke the rules.
during the day time this happens all the time which means that delivery vehicles and buses are sometimes forced to abhort their journeys. i have been on our local bus when out of frustration the driver rings the police for help and is told in effect that they will not do anything.
the victim tonight was actually parked sensibly allowing cars to pass in the road and buggies to pass on the pavement.
i am forced to conclude that it is all just a revenue gathering exercise.

07:1170487The trouble is Howard, if that car was parked illegally (you did say it was on yellow lines), then the owner is committing an offence.
Now that illegal parking has been de-criminalised, it is not the Police's responsibility to move them on or fine them - fining is done by the local authority, in this case DDC.
My understanding was that they would come out if the vehicle in question was causing actual obstruction, which you have said, has been the case on many occasions.
If vehicles are parked illegally, whether obstructing or not, it is the duty of the Enforcement Officer to issue a ticket. The fact that it raises income is irrelevant.
Fairness doen't come into it I'm afraid Howard - sadly.
Since the parking charges went up 3 years ago, I've not paid a penny for a parking ticket - I park further out and walk and definitely don't park on double yellow lines - unless with Jean.

Maybe to progress this you could e mail the enforcement officers asking;
1; is Belgrave rd an enforcement area(some roads are not)
2; If it is, how much time is spent in belgrave rd as opposed to the town
3; how many cars in belgrave have been issued tickets in past year
hope it helps
k

i would welcome more visits from the enforcement officers, the problem is that they do the enforcing at times that are irrelevant.

18:5670628If there are yellow lines, it's an enforcement area - no point in having them otherwise.

Unless things have changed, the enforcement officers would/could only go to areas agreed as enforcement areas by the council.

I have given advice on this and who is best to contact.
I'm sure parking attendents can ONLY go to areas that are designated.
So thats the first thing you need to find out, is BELGRAVE ROAD a designated area for them.
If it is, in the p;ast year how many times have they visited
and how many tickets issued
simple questions for them to reply to.
And it might even move thing on
