You'll find that the council is getting barely a fraction of the costs they are incurring from the current crisis added to a huge loss of income from parking, planning, sales and all sorts - these all help subsidise the three quid or so the average household pays DDC each week (it would cost you more than that in time and money if you needed to get rid of your own rubbish)
If this carries on too long many councils will be crisis and many non-statutory services will inevitably be cut if the government doesn't help more.....
