i set up the opening ceremony on sky+ and see the coverage by channel 4 was poor and the end cut off
ist john snow against gary lineker and the bbc team ----- no contest
2nd when the competiors came in , two people we didnot know trying to tell us who was who in each team and one of the guys kept cutting the other one up by talking over him
then finally the recording stopped and never saw the flame lit ------------------- so what happened ?
did we have to change channels ? or did channel 4 workers decide we finish at 11.20pm and we are going home ?

I put it on to record, but presume that as it over-ran the time that's why it cut it off and the end was missed.

It over-ran and finished about 12:15, so must be sky+ error
Been nice knowing you :)

Ignorance is bliss, bliss is happiness, I am happy...to draw your attention to the possible connectivity in the foregoing.

Ron you are right about the commentary team on C4. basically these guys are not commentators and it only proved that its not as easy as it looks. They gave us no info at all..I hinted something like this this morning on our frontpage. The commentator was Krishnan Guru-Murthy plus a paralympian expert.
Guru-Murthy reads the news and does interviewing on the C4 news nightly at 7PM along with Jon Snow. He is quite good doing that but commentating was beyond him..he was half interviewing his co commentator, but not really telling us much of anything.

I much preferred the Channel 4 production to the BBC style as I did not have to suffer their interminable waffle over everything. I received the basic knowledge I needed and the pictures did the rest.
The disabled marine who descended into the arena with the torch was amazing to see and then to pass it to a lady was in the 1948 games so she could light the flame.
My only complaint about both our Games openings as well as all the previous foreign ones is the time it takes the athletes to parade round which I find goes on for too long.

It was a pity the spoilt it all with adverts. I was hoping that as it was such a special occation that we were to be spared adverts,But how wrong can one be.

Watch the first part of the opening ceremony good pictures on the frontpage, but as said the adverts did spoil it rather, I think that the British team have already got in some medals.

Opening ceremony: commercials
Breakfast Show: boring studio, commercials and repeated clips
Events: commercials
I'm so glad I'm going to see some events live as I am slowly going off channel
