Really looking forward to these games. They will show that anyone can achieve their goals if they put their mind to it. Lets hope it will inspire a generation.
The Paralympic Values are based on the history of the Paralympic Games and the tradition of fair play and honourable sports competition.
They are:
courage
determination
inspiration
equality
Its also coming home to its birthplace and London is ready to show the world how to put the games on again.

25 August 2012 13:36188463I find the Paralympics so much more interesting and inspiring than the ordinary Olympics, the participants have had to overcome so many obstacles in life prior to taking any sport seriously enough to compete in this great event.

As we are each encouraged to reach-out and "be all we can be" reality must be part of it. The Olympics are not the human equivalent of Woburn Safari Park and the Paralympics should not equate to a Zoo. With the competitors fit only to be gawped at. 'Disability' is a 24/7, 365 day a year way of life.
I am entirely positive and fully aware of all the good that should be/will be done when we accept Raspberries into the general population. Pointing-up the present shortcomings in attitude and approach, the continuing patronisation and sub-classification, of Government and Locog is entirely in keeping with a fully positive approach to 'disability'.

Everyone was enjoying the sunshine and the atmosphere was electric, there was a terrific buzz all around the Olympic park. I enjoyed the football, the basketball and athletics. The competitors are so inspiring and they remind me every time to count my blessings. It was a great pleasure and a privilege to be amongst them. Here are a few photos of the day

- 6 September 2012 19:11190360Hi Helen, you will have a great time I'm sure, it's a terrific atmosphere up there. I printed my tickets which included Olympic Park tickets and collected my travel passes from the box office there. Don't worry the ticket offices are open, don't bring any booze with you, security take all bottles from you, my bottle of sauvignon was confiscated and I'm sure they enjoyed it lol
There is a variety of food and drink available to buy at fairly reasonable prices, you may even fancy some champagne and oysters there's a whole restaurant available for that very purpose

email: dover7@msn.com - 8 September 2012 11:05190477Well. What a day that was! Fantastic atmosphere at both basketball (O2 Arena) and stadium. The noise was something I have never heard before. Very humbling to see the fantastic athletes and world records after world records broken!
Due to the age of digital cameras I seemed to have aquired over 500 photos of the day!! That said it will take me a while to go through them but once done I'll put some of them on here.
