The Sunday Times has a story today that will incense some of you.
Keith Hammerton, 73, a convicted paedophile was allowed to choose where he lived and declined a further stay in a bail hostel in south west London. A leaked report said that he posed a "very high level of dynamic risk" and he considered women as "evil" and that he felt that his victims enjoyed their abuse and benefited from it!
Despite being under supervision he was allowed to check into the County Hotel here in Dover described by the paper as a family hotel. Dover District Council paid for his stay. Only after the paper made enquiries did the hotel discover his background and he moved out on Thursday. He now lives as a registered sex offender in the Folkestone area.
Two things emerge here. One, why should our council pick up the tab for this criminal to stay in a hotel in Dover? And two, what is the Probation Service up to?
