    To me it seemed you posted that you were stepping down as chairman of UKIP, Vic. You also mentioned a new committee.

    That would mean that the new committee and the new chairman would decide which way local UKIP is going.

    As UKIP is a national party with TV and press coverage, and 12 MEPs in Brussels, it would be correct for you to inform the local press of your decision to step down as chairman, so that other people can come forward as candidates for the post of chairman.

    My favourite local paper is the Dover Mercury, but I think the Dover Express would be happy to write an article about Councillor Vic Matcham's decision to resign as local chairman of UKIP, and follow up the events with the new committee and the new chairman.

    This would also attract attention among the public to UKIP's presence in Dover, and give the new committee a chance to expose their plans to move the party forward.

    So the sooner you contact the press, Vic, the better for UKIP!
    UKIP needs some press coverage.
    Not to do so after publicly stating you are leaving the post of chairman would damage UKIP.
