    I see that the Harbours (Seafarers' Remuneration) Bill is out for consultation. The Minister writes: "We intend to move this through Parliament as soon as the legislative timetable allows. But we have been clear that ports should not wait for the law to catch up. They should already be talking to their ferry customers and should be prepared, ultimately, to refuse access to operators who do not pay a fair wage. In doing so, they will have the full backing of the Government and of the Maritime Coastguard Agency. "

    Yeah, right. P&O breaks the law - bad. Harbour Authority breaks the (1847) law - good. Funny way of going about things and it didn't stop DHB being found guilty and having to pay (rather a lot of) compensation when they tried unilaterally to take a stand and stop live animal 'exports'.
