Listening to Paul Scully on the Today programme this morning was almost nauseous. Repeatedy asked by Nick Robinson why, if they government was so appalled by P&O's actions, they don't withdraw the taxpayers' money that will go to DP World as subsidies for their involvement in the London freeport.

He blethered and obfuscated. Presumably taking his inspiration from the haystack windbag that is his boss. But, of course, he couldn't say they will take such action. The P&O situation is just an unavoidable consequence of their strategy. And cosying up to the UAE and the Saudis is a big part of that.
