I have a lot of trouble with next door's youths sitting on and jumping over the dividing wall at the front of the house, it edges my driveway.
I did try window boxes on a small stretch last year but together with my other pots and tubs they take too much time and effort with the watering. I would need at least ten boxes to cover the whole length and they could get stolen unless fixed in some way.
Any ideas what I can put on top of the coping, I believe broken bottles would be illegal.
I have found the following but would it deter 18yr olds.

The prikka spikes are very good, I have them fixed on a gate at the side of the house and cats dont like them either.
The only trouble is that the little darlings will rip them off.
try a good smothering of grease all the way along the wall jan, thatll stop the little buggers.

grass grows by the inches but dies by the feet.

Or some of that anti-climbing paint, very sticky and never dries

Short of a shotgun - and I have no objection to that, to be honest, as my mothers house has just been burgled in Ireland just before the sale comes through and before I have been able to clear it properly so I have that "shoot the bastards" frame of mind on - anti climbing paint and the spikes Ian suggests are a good alternative.

That is awful for you Bern, distressing as well as annoying.
I think I might give the spikes a go in the near future, apparently Screwfix sell them so will have to see which is cheaper. Anti-climbing paint would not help much the wall is about 4ft and they just jump up and over. The spikes should be safe, luckily they are not vandals just a pain in the a**e.

Really sorry to hear that Bern.
2011 has been a bit of a challenge so far. Bit of luck I do well with a challenge. Not an easy one though, up to now.
Those spikes should be a help, Jan - I would, of course, like to suggest dipping them in a non-traceable toxin first, but I suspect H&S wouldn't allow it. One bright spot in my own circs: our wonderful farmer neighbour in Ireland chased the b******s when they came back for a second bite at 4am and they were bloody lucky he didn't catch them. He is a star. He also has a shotgun. I think I love him to bits.

Has he got a bull he could let loose that would be nearly as good as the shotgun.
