  the environment agency have said that they will be doing some essential work repairing banks that were damaged during bad weather.
  
  wood will be used to enhance the look and plants will be added improve the general look.

  You can hardly see the river in some sections.

  shopping trolleys and any other litter come under the remit of the district council.

  the issue came up about 4 years ago, the environment agency stated that they were responsible for anything natural like weeds etc.
  they were also responsible for promoting and improving the ecology.
  
  anything human related was not their responsibility, but that of the local authority.

  Thanks for the clarifiction Howard, but it begs another couple of questions:
  
  How can they do the work they claim is their responsibility if they don't sort the bit they claim isn't their responsibilty? Are we therefore to assume DDC will be onsite to clear up the human detritus?

  I expect they will remove the trolleys etc from the river and DDC will clear them away. Or is that too simple for the powers that be.
