hooe my questions are genuine martin
i wont hold my breath in -geting any replies;
to answer your questions;
had the local tories thrown bob out it would force a bye election, but would have sent a clear message.
and im sure in time with the pressure bob would have msade the decision to stand down.
once elected by no matter what party, you then have little control, as that individual stands until the next election.
the party can withdraw support but has little effect.
the only thing that can happen is people power.
whilst i was on council a cllr moved up north but carried on representing a dover ward only by public pressure did he resign.? no it wont, but north deal is a very very marginal seat, and the tories would be unlikely to hold the seat.
thats more probable as to why the latest decision was made.
as to could bob continue as an indy, yes he could, but that would be a very uncomfatable ride up to the election so far away.
