I agree with everyone on this, those who like it and those who don't
Designwise it looks great and good to see it get an award. But - once you have finished admiring it, it is a bit sterile.
I loved the beach in the 60s and 70s - boat plots and huts on the town beach (which has disappeared under the dual carriageway), the fountains mentioned on other thread, the wheeled landing stage for trips round the harbour, the watersports centre where I learned to sail which was no more than a well worn garden shed, and the old maroon bus going to the end of the Prince of Wales pier where you could relax in the most comfortable bamboo chairs and on a sunny day imagine you were in the south of France.
And as a very young kid always hoping I'd see the train ( a real one, Marek!) going along the seafront to the Eastern Docks, I'd love to see a picture of that and I'm sure on here will have one!
