ORNITHOPHOBIA...Fear of Birds

  I have observed the range of anti-bird paraphernalia, plastered all over the
  Town Council's Roof.....culminating in a rather dejected plastic Eagle...if any members are wandering bye....maybe they can get a photo....
  
  This coupled with the sad planters with almost dead trees in, either side of the door....and the look of jaded isolation...makes it all seem very miserable
  
  Birds have their uses in this life, and I am all for them......Pidgeons have the saddest of all lots in this town....well...apart from the residents that is
  
  The pigeon has contributed to both World War I and II, notably by the Australian, French, German, American, and UK forces. 32 Pigeons have been decorated with the Dickin Medal for war contributions, including Commando, G.I. Joe, Paddy, and William of Orange.
  
  A grand ceremony was held in Buckingham Palace to commemorate a platoon of pigeons that braved the battlefields of Normandy to deliver vital plans to Allied forces on the fringes of Germany. Three of the actual birds that received the medals are on show in the London Military Museum so that well wishers can pay their respects.
  
  Just to say we are not alone in this Universe....

  But the pidgeons at/near the Town Council offices just poop everywhere, they don't send or bring any messages, but leave lots of deposits.
  
  The pidgeons you describe above Charlie, were probably specially trained, not ours I'm afraid, they just c**p everywhere.
  
  I'm sure the Councillors, officers and Town Clerk who all pass by those planters every day could, if they wanted to, do something about them - they probably will now after your comment above "sad planters with almost dead trees in, either side of the door....and the look of jaded isolation...makes it all seem very miserable".

  If the public would stop feeding the pigeons as requested they might not have had to resort to the measures as described by Charlie.
  
  I always thought the Town Council Offices and the Memorial area looked clean and tidy.

  Since the introduction of the green food waste bins I have noticed a drastic reduction in the number of scavenging birds in our area. The only remaining problem is the misguided old lady who keeps feeding them in Pencester Gardens.

  It is said that it is better to light a candle than to curse the darkness. So, instead of campaigning to give the film Mary Poppins an 'X' certificate or utilising the local feral-youth's air-rifle habits...
  In these straightened times it might be best to improve the diet of the common pigeon with a few to adding them to list of food fit for human consumption?

  Theyre all down here on 'Millers' roof Howard. I noticed a change in pattern...they were never on the roof of the Premier Inn before, not in large quantities, one or two perhaps, but suddenly loads of them were there for several days nestling in the sun. Even prompted me to take a picture. Lots of bird doings everyhwere whereas next to none before..always a clean roof, although the rain today will wash it off...

  Pigeon breast cooked in red wine, orange juice and herbs is a very good recipe.
