see there has been a unexplained increase in oral cancer the last few years
we was talking in the pub at weekend about the things since the sixtes that you may use these days that we never had in my red lion drinking days in the 60,s
not saying any of these are to blame for the increase in oral cancer , but will guess the start dates
1 == lager ----------- we always had newcastle brown ale ---- start date middle 70,s ?
2=== mouthwash --- never heard off in the 60,s ------------------------- middle 70,s
3=== ready meals -- we always used one of the many butchers in london road ----- start of 80,s

the biggest known cause of oral cancer is tobacco and alcohol.
two points here, a lot of people from the indian sub continent chew tobacco rather than smoke it which is more harmful, there arrival since the 70's may be linked to the rise.
secondly most people who drink alcohol drink more than they did years ago, it used to be friday and/or saturday night in the pub, now many people have wine with their evening meal then have few drinks in front of the t.v.
