It's the responsibility of KCC highways to weed the gutters and pavements. I have been on to them many times, but they have reduced and reduced their weeding service. All around Dover (and other Town and Cities) I'm sure, it is the same - it really makes an area look neglected - which it is.

yes roger, but not only the weeds but the road drains as well.more noticeable around the top picture,it tends to flood there when we have heavy rain.

I agree Brian, but how many people actually advise HCC Highways when they see a blocked drain gulley ?

seriously roger? of course because people have got used to blocked drains and overgrown areas,
surely KCC know about all these overgrown areas, the cutbacks have prevented them being done.
but it does little for tourism

People shouldn't have to get used to weeds and blocked drain gulleys, but you're right keith, they have. You're right that it also does little, in fact, I'm sure it will have an adverse affect on tourism.

Roger
it is correct and we agree
over the summer Dover had an opportunity to impress
even with such a big company as the Royal Caribbean visiting
lost opportunities

Indeed Keith - there have been many lost opportunities with the cruise ships - DHB/Port of Dover have done very well/as much as they can do, to give their cruise passengers and the cruise lines, a feel-good factor, but it is to do with the Town environment where improvements need to be made - some have already of course , but much still needs to be done.

I think your right Roger
I travel around the town and you certainly get mixed mostly negative feedback from others.
Around Townwall street the person I was with couldn't believe the state of the area.
The town centre, iv been with others both tourist and local who say the town is in need of a real revamp
the DITZ (if it ever happens) wont save Dover

roger,it needs potografing when in flood along with the overgrowth and then being sent via e-mail to kcc highways, with a reconmendation to have it sorted.

I am very concerned about the weeds edging the footpaths near our schools. God forbid a child trips on the vegetation and falls into the path of a car. Something must be done.
