Looks like BBC are losing the rights to the Open when their contract runs out in 2016, another stranglehold on British sport by Sky

The BBC seem to have little interest in sport nowadays, losing test cricket to Channel 4 was ridiculous, most horse racing now is on Channel 4 too. There has been talk of them losing Wimbledon even, once the Open golf goes it will leave them with indoor bowls and little less.

I do hope that the BBC do not relinquish the rugby union 6 nations tournament. I must admit that I don't understand a lot of the rules but I sat captivated this evening watching England against the sheep worriers in Cardiff.
Great result of course but the sheer intensity made it viewable for all looking in.

I got dragged to Twickenham in my youth by my soon to be husband to see an England v Wales game, the atmosphere was absolutely amazing and I loved every minute of it even though I did not understand the rules properly.

The good news is that the US Masters is still with the BBC, first round this evening, the bad news is that the Indian Premier league cricket has left ITV 4 and gone to Sky Sports.

I know the leaders aren't due to start until later, but why isn't the golf on?
The coverage of the early rounds started much earlier, today it's 1.45pm.

Normally coverage starts when the first players are out, on the first two day before 7 am. Maybe the BBC has lost interest as they don't have the rights in future.

This is why it's good news that Sky will have the rights, at least they will show every minute possible!

It is only good news for Sky users that have the correct Sky Bundle, every other golf fan will loose out.

Every other golf fan is already losing out because they don't show the full day on the BBC, Imagine if Sky showed rugby or football but didn't bother showing the first 20 minutes!
I'm sure the BBC would put on highlights, that way everyone gets to see some of the action

The Open was once decreed with many others to be one of the Crown Jewels of sport and had to be shown on terrestrial television.II think the BBC have done a great job over the years, just a pity that they messed up the start of the final round. When events are only available to a Sky subscribers it means that youngsters in homes without it don't get a chance to see potential heros.
