if the above has been put into operation yesterday lunch time, then why has the a20 been at a standstill for the last 18 hours.the que starts at the eastern docks and tails back past aycliffe to folkestone.phase 2 has been reported to have started but hgv's are still parked 2 abreast on the a20.
this is not good enough, and all lorries should be sent back to m20 at the earlist possable moment.radio stations have stated that op stack is still on causeing traffic choas.not that i am anoyyed but it dose wind one up when people like them [radio stations] cant get it right.

Radio stations often do so Brian, often reporting accidents and getting the name of the road wrong. I was once driving along Wincheap in Canterbury and according to the local traffic report it was gridlocked. Think they must have got the wrong town because at that moment there were hardly any cars about.

Helen T wrote:I follow Kent Police Traffic reports online. They state all cars were being diverted off of the a20/m20. The chaos would be further back than you could see from Aycliffe. As for the town clogging up. It's times like this we realise just how many HGVs there are on our roads using the port/tunnel. The ferrie/trains can only cope with as much as they can take. In saying that I expect drivers are also told by their bosses to only to go with certain companies so the loads are not spread evenly.

Lastet from Kent police online. Op stack will be In force for the rest of today at least. Only lorries with op stack stickers being let in the Port or they will be diverted back. 1500 lorries still in Op Stack. I also hear Calais had issues due to weather. Lets hope spring is near!
