Unfortunately for the Hight Street shopping on line is often cheaper, it's easier to shop around for a bargain and you can stay in the warm and wait for the postman/delivery.
Personally I do a fair amount of shopping on line provided I know exactly what I want. For the stuff I'm likely to want the chances of finding the same thing in a local shop is fairly unlikely. And before anyone else says it - I'm lazy too!!

quite right brian a lot of stuff has to be seen before purchase, however much as i try to avoid online shopping i do end up using the argos website.
i always try to buy at the one in town to help keep it going but so many times they are either out of stock or if it is a large item it means a 3 day wait for delivery.
i then go online and have the item the following day.

Online shopping will continue to grow, because it is cheaper in many cases and definitely more convenient for those in employment. Then there are those who like me absolutely hate traipsing round shops for anything and everything.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

When using Argos unless it is something that can not go in a car, I reserve on line and collect from Dover.

Thats what I do Jan , that way I dont have to wait in and I can check out the product to be sure its what I want. Boots do the same with free delivery to the local store , but unlike Argos you do have to pay for the item when you order it

Post #2: I wouldn't buy a melon - on line or in a shop as I don't like them. However, food shopping I leave to She Who Must Be Obeyed and the weekly ritual.
Posts #4 and #6: Me too. Far easier than traipsing down there to find that what I want isn't in stock.
