    . The number of asylum seekers housed in hotels has surged from 29,585 before Starmer took office to 38,079 today.

    Yesterday evening, borders watchdog David Bolt exposed the government’s lack of strategy before the Home Affairs Committee, admitting: “I’m not entirely clear what [Labour’s] strategy is. If it has one, it hasn’t articulated it in a way that I’ve been able to understand it.” The interim independent chief inspector of borders and immigration, appointed last May, went on to warn MPs that the Home Office risks “angering communities” by keeping thousands of migrants in taxpayer-funded hotels. He also confirmed that asylum seekers will still be accommodated in hotels “for a number of years”…

    Meanwhile, small boat crossings are up 20% compared to last year.
