Dunno about the country as a whole, but I can see Aycliffe being in favour!

We shouldn't really be thinking about it. Le Touquet was a significant achievement for the Blair administration. I know that there are many in Nord-pas-de-Calais who want to revoke it but it's worked for the UK.

The Aycliffe situation is difficult to fathom. Their beef has always been with the outbound traffic. If all checks return to the French side of the pond, then will they be so restrictive as to delay ex-UK traffic into Calais? Will they be worried about illegal immigrants or above quota amounts of Blue Stilton?
