  Mainly for Kathleen as she may know - I came across this image a while back and it is labelled "Dover's New Promenade" - I was wondering when this was as it is a shadow of it's former self when I walked down there yesterday

  Yes I knew where it was ( ) just don't recall it ever being called that, but it would have been a nice stroll along there from the Lord Warden Hotel

  It is just a concrete post which I think is still there. I am guessing that this prom appeared when the blockyard for the Harbour Works was finished with

  So there I was, walking along that promenade about 40 years ago, when I heard this almighty bang.
  
  Reaching the railway, this was the scene:-
  

  

  
  
  I discovered that the shunter had underestimated the length of the train and ran over the buffer stop! I wonder where the shunter's mate was!
  
  I dug the slide out as I thought it showed the end of the wall, but sadly not.
