I knew Roger Frayne well. We were both involved in the infamous Dover Pirate 'Channel Radio' of the mid 1970's.(I presented 'Dover Soul'). The man to take the credit though should be Eddy Austin without whose unacknowledged dynamism, local radio would not have taken the shape we see today. I was at his house when the home office carried out a raid in 1975. I think his fine was £240-00-we all chipped in.I was skint so I gave him the 2 turntable decks I had from Radio City. His relentless diligence to promoting the cause influenced many in high places. We had our differences but his hard work made things happen. The last time I worked with him was on 'White Cliffs Radio' an RSL during 1996 (I think). Those were the days.
