Well it is now over and what great events both sections of the games have been. The spirit and enthusiasm has been absolutely brilliant, the athletes have been outstanding and given their all, win or loose. Both sets of games have been a credit to this Country and it had to make people proud, even those of this Country who were critical of these games coming here in the first place.
I just wonder what those who came on here prior to the games moaning about the hype and the overall cost must feel now, surly even if you hate sport you had to be moved by a lot of what happened during the games.
Both the Olympians and the Paralympiions have given their best and I hope it carries on through the youngsters of our Nation, sport surly has to be the right way to encourage them

Yes Harry I go along with all you are saying,we as a nation owe them all winners or not a great thank you and well done,,as we all know not all can be a winner, and I KNOW MORE than most on that one

but just the taking part

they all are winners anyway.

Someone e-mailed or texted the BBC Breakfast show this morning saying that the Sports Personality should be postponed
this year as to single anyone out would be unfair on the rest of them.
Must say I have to agree as they're all winners in my eyes.

The atmosphere created by the Olympics and the Paralympics has been wonderful, just look at the thousands who watched the parade in London and on a working day, they can't all be unemployed.
Apparently the two sets of games almost broke even which is a surprise, all that positive publicity going worldwide for virtually nothing that must be another good thing to come from the games.
Well done to the organisers and everyone else who was involved.

I agree with post 3 how do you pick out one sports person for Sports Personality of the year, mind you Team of the year would be easy as long as you include all the Olympians together, just as they did yesterday on the parade.

very difficult to quantify the real cost of the games, so many things to take into account.
the country has been shown in a great light to the rest of the world, now up to businesses to capitalise on the fact we are seen as a major player that ran a massive operation with utmost efficiency.
south east england tourist boards say that they are expecting a boom.

I heard something on the radio to the effect that the HUGE amount of money which was gained by the Olympics from its being broadcast on Channel 4 would go a very long way to paying for it.
