Interesting story on the Mercury website this morning about an 18-year-old Olympic swimmer who disappeared while in London because she was trying to escape an arranged marriage. Her parents had sold her to an older man (who already had other wives). She lived rough on the streets but was caught with a fake passport as she tried to leave Dover. She's been jailed for eight months, and has already spent half the time in prison. Ironically she probably would have been granted asylum had she applied. Surely she needs support rather than being jailed?

seems completely pointless as well as inhumane jailing the girl.

She seems to getting the support and assistance she needs now, and her circumstances may well lead to her being granted asylum, her own passport, and have her new life in La Belle France.
