Really if you could all do a better job get elected.... seriously though
As Paul Wells has pointed out Dover has roughly half the population it had during the inter-war years, which frankly does not make us a target location for many national retailers
As Watty has pointed out there is the due process of law to go through for a local authority to acquire land (cpo process) and often, as is the case with the County hotel owners, the initial decision will be appealed thus further delaying an already tortuously slow process.
Like Simon, I get deeply frustrated with the lack of information from the Council about progress on their numerous projects and whilst respecting that there are constraints on what can be said, saying nothing just allows the cynics to fill the void with negativity; something that does none of us any good.
I wholeheartedly agree with those who have pointed out that a fair number of our elected officials work their socks off for the town and also those who pointed out that most prior failings can hardly be placed at the door of current incumbents
