Oh dear - nearly 70 years after the last shelling, about 40 years since Burlington House went up on the site of the poor old Burlington Hotel (which was in its heyday quite a grand building, certainly more attractive than the soullesss block which replaced it), about 10 years since the Multi Story car park was shut, similar sort of time since MFI became LIDL, 8 years since LIDL closed, 18 months since David L first raised this thread and, unless I'm much mistaken, no overnight fairies have started any works, so certainly no redevelopment can be anticipated over night. Progress is painfully slow and, well, painful. I know that further CPOs have been served in order to acquire some of the outstanding properties. Anyone considering holding their breath should continue to breathe normally and not engage in such obviously suicidal activity in the wait for real signs of actual building activity, next lot of activity will be further demolition most likely. I do hope that the date of the most eagerly anticipated demolition is fixed soon and is trumpeted far and wide well in advance so we can book our seats.
