20:1473568Just found a great website with some really interesting photos of old Dover. I hadn't heard of it so thought I would pass it on.
It's

Hope you enjoy it.
There's always a little truth behind every "Just kidding", a little emotion behind every "I don't care" and a little pain behind every "I'm ok".

14:5873679Sorry Jacqui, I somehow missed your thread last night and this morning, what great picture`s there of the 50s and 60s. More recent history than the usual diet of pre-war material, these picture`s are more of how I remember Dover. I`d like to see some more like these on the forum. Not too many picture`s about it seems of the old post-war prefabs up Buckland estate.
Tell them that I came, and no one answered.

15:0473680Fantastic photos, especially of Dover in the '50s and '60s. Oh what we've lost (post-Luftwaffe).

Thanks for information. A fantastic site with a host of interesting subjects.
Re the Dover pics. My wife always says how people have forgotten how much of our beach has been lost and the 50's 60's pics really demomstrate how the development of the Eastern Docks has affected the recreational beach facilities that the people of Dover used to have.

Tell them that I came, and no one answered.

19:3073743funny you should mention that colin, i seem to remember a picture of a train carrying coal travelling along the seafront whilst ladies with parasols and gentleman done up to the nines perambulating in the background.
