Paul you are wrong about the significance of the Commonwealth Games, for many of the sports that are featured it is the closest they get to a World Championship so for them it is a big deal.

The problem in Delhi was not a lack of interest in the games but smotheringly over zealous security which meant many people struggled to get in to the stadia.

Some of the competition was devalued due to high profile athletes not turning up, but overall the level of competition was high with some great and memorable moments (India winning the women's 4x400m gold, India v Pakistan in the Hockey, the Kenyans destroying the field in numerous long distance races, David Millar winning gold in the cycling time trial, Daly and Brick winning gold in the pairs diving and so on). The Opening and Closing Ceremonies were truly spectacular and a great credit to the Indian people.

It was great that the BBC covered it, though maybe they went a bit too far in terms of staff etc.

Clearly a number of our posters have little or no idea what the Commonwealth of Nations (currently 54 members) is all about - I suggest you have a read of this http://www.thecommonwealth.org/
