  definitely gone to a better place brian, cannot think of anywhere worse than an aquarium surrounded by germans continually asking him to predict the lottery numbers.
  
  surprised me that octupuses/octupii only live for about 2 years, they reckoned that paul was about 3 and a half.

  Yes, octopuses, squid and other cephalopods have short lives. Depending on the species they tend only to live a few years, and most only a couple. The females always die after laying their eggs, nurturing them until they hatch and then expiring. I'm not aware of any that foster two generations.
