There were reports of
security issues as soon as it was released - they have made it easier to share your Wi-Fi passwords with your contacts by encrypting your passwords and storing them on a Microsoft server somewhere out in cyberspace.
As the article says, an accident waiting to happen.
Best to go through all the security settings and set them as you want them, not to default.

Thanks Ray, I was just going to start a new thread with the following about a phone call I just received maybe just as well I have still not got my Windows 10.
Microsoft SCAM
I have just had a phone call supposedly from Microsoft saying my computer was compromised. The Indian? sounding voice waffled on for a while with a fairly plausible script, I said my computer was turned off (it was not) he then asked me to turn my computer on at which point I said I would get a computer technician to check later and put the phone down.
With the free Windows 10 downloads I suppose they are bound to catch some people out so be warned.

Hi Jan, the Microsoft technical support calls from India have been going on for a while. If I have some time on my hands I string them along for as long as possible, or until they realise that I am more technically aware than they might have wished, at which point they always end up putting the phone down on me. If I don't have any time to spare, I tell them that I have a Macbook and they put the phone down straight away.

Beta testing has exposed a number of holes in Windows 10 security and coding and there will be a whole raft of fixes coming out over the coming months to plug the gaps.
I did some testing on a computer that I don't use for work which the girls use just for their homework and was not entirely satisfied, so I'll wait for the first raft of major updates to be fully incorporated into the released version before I install on my office and personal machines.

That confirms it I will stick with the present system until all the updates are in, with Windows 8 I couldn't edit photographs or play videos for a long while, eventually one or more of the updates sorted things out.

Once all the bugs are fixed the upgrade will cost £99 instead of being free!

Below from my IT guys
Windows 10 upgrade, important information
You may have recently received a message regarding pre-configuring your computer to download the new operating system as soon as it becomes available. Obviously this sounds great, but we do advise you to wait to upgrade until the first patches have been released.
What issues could I encounter?
Software failure
All Operating Systems (Windows 7, 8 & 10) have software that runs on them that does everything for us - this could include core software that you use every day. Not all of these will have been upgraded to work with Windows 10 on the release date.
Glitches & bugs
With the initial release of an operating system there are almost always bugs and glitches in its functionality. Post launch, patches usually follow very shortly after so we do advise you to wait for these.
When is best to upgrade?
Patches normally follow around a month after launch so you won't have long to wait.

So the best thing to do is download but then wait about a month to install with all the available updates.

According to this article we have until next July to upgrade for free, can't believe there will still be any glitches by then.

Hmm - that website has automatically identified me, ripped the profile pic I use in Facebook for the Comments section even though I've never had anything to do with them there and I'm not currently logged in, I wonder if that's legal?
Edit to update - I emailed Currys/PCworld to ask them how they had got hold of my profile pic from Facebook, no reply but first thing next morning I had an email from NASA saying I had been unsubscribed from email notifications for when the International Space Station was coming over - and my pic is no longer on the Comments section for that Currys/PCWorld site. How does that work when I use different emails for the two logins?
I guess the answer is before you sign up for anything be prepared to waste a couple of days of your life wading through the details of Terms and Conditions before you tick accept.
