We will shortly be dropping members who are not posting, in line with our long standing policy. Most members will know the score by now..and these two slogans are apt
"use it or lose it"
or
" dont join up if you dont want to join in"
We are giving about 7 to 10 days notice so if you value your membership, and it is the best free club membership in town, then please join in. We are essentially a writers club and all need to write to keep us rallying and rattling along. They guys who post every day or every other day keep it fresh and interesting. A huge well done to them. We understand some guys cant post quite that often but thats okay too, but not to post for months on end is a no-no.
We are all in it together.

love the last bit "we are all in it together".
reg will have something to say about that.
I post as much as i can but do feel its taken over to much but certain posters and like mel said its hard to be liked on here so hence why i stand back now all very sad and i think it puts people off trying to be noticed on here when the who is who lot are in control a lot , i dont think there should be any look at me im different from you on a local page like this does it really matter ? ??? we all want the best for dover yet some like the limelight to much.

have to disagree mark, some people post more than others because they have opinions on a wide range of issues.
nobody is in control and i don't think there is any sort of "in crowd".
new members are always very welcome especially if they post a lot, there are many examples of newer members setting out their stall on issues.

Mark, I only joined last summer and post a lot as I have the time so I am one of those that could be accused of having "taken over". I joined because I wanted to reply to a topic about charity shops and have thoroughly enjoyed the forum ever since.
I did not join "to be liked" which I think is a very strange comment, after all this is not a chat room, it is a forum which means we discuss all sorts of topics which can often get quite heated as to be expected.
As for your "look at me im different from you on a local page" I am at a loss to understand your comment.
In any situation where there are a group of people there will always be some who long for the "limelight" it is part of life.

I am at a loss, dear leader [leader, Pb-lead, get it? The less said about 'plum-bum' the better]
I am at a loss as to why it is necessary to goad the lookers-on in this way. Is there a tacit demand at the Tate, that all who visit should daub upon canvass?
There have been comments made here about the wider readership of this forum and the associated good work accomplished by those who comment here for the wider community of Dover and Kent, a jolly good thing.
[Admittedly, I may be mistaken in thinking that one must sign-up to read the forum, but this is the way I read the situation, way back when.]
When it is common for web sites to boast of hits, individual visits and membership numbers it is rather odd to instigate a cull in this way.
I must say that I am a little uncomfortable with the idea that those who may be interested in what is said here, but because of one thing or another hang back from joining in, are to be shunned and presumably 'invited' to resubmit their plea for membership at a later time.
Ta-rat-a-ta-ta-ra...'Th-th-th-that's all folks!'

Ignorance is bliss, bliss is happiness, I am happy...to draw your attention to the possible connectivity in the foregoing.

Completely wrong there Tom me oul mucker.
Anyone can read Doverforum, no one has to sign anything to read it. No one is obliged to daub on its canvas. But if an individual becomes a member and joins the inner club, they do so to join in the chatter which is made clear at the outset...otherwise stay a reader.

Mark, in your defence I know EXACTLY what you mean.

i think jan sums it up perfectly, joined in with things the day she joined and has never held back since.
many others have done the same, the most notable was our late friend colin who had a viewpoint on any subject and started many threads of his own.
the main thing to remember is that we are a club and can only operate if everyone participates.
I am afraid I don't understand what Mark is saying. I respect his view but I can't see where the idea has come from about it being hard to be liked on here - as Jan says, it isn't a chat room, but an opinion forum, and by and large peoples very diverse views are respected. If you want a chat room, use one, but don't complain because this isn't one!!
Colin was such a great member of the forum - I still have a quiet moment every now and then to remember him, and his lovely family who we met at the funeral. And he had opinions about everything!!!! I looked forward to his posts.

I still miss Colin and his wonderful pictures, he popped into the shop for a chat a few times, he really made me feel welcome on here.

I too often think of lovely Colin and I miss our little chats, still can't believe he is not with us here on the forum although I bet he looks in on us every so often

Agree with that Keith. And even though people may not always see eye to eye, if there is something wrong so many people are concerned and ready to lend an offer of help or some kind words.
