  not just canterbury but debenhams in folkestone have decided to give christmas a miss this year, went in there earlier, packed full of people but no festive cheer.
  
  i think it was heike that said a while back this would happen.

  Festive cheer is in short supply, people are struggling to keep their heads above water in a lot of cases, businesses only spend out to attract more money to be spent in their shops etc. Councils are being squeezed more than ever, times have changed.

  most of the shops in folkestone don't appear to have made much of an effort although a few fairground attractions did today.
