To be honest I appear to have reached a stage in life where I don't give a *oss about about Murdoch and before him was Maxwell and I'm sure there's someone in the wings waiting to assume Murdochs mantle when he 'pops his clogs'.
It's the same with politics years of promises only to be broken when the party of your choice obtains power. Clegg sells his soul and the students for power. Labour lose direction and the Tories take care of themselves and school chums.
Drugs, drink and mindless violence seem to be the norm.Prisons full to bursting point and kids brought into the world without love or parental guidance.
The rich get richer and the poor...well destined to starve and freeze if prices keep spiralling upwards.
Kids no longer aspire to be Doctors, nurses teachers but crave for publicity as a film, pop or football star/personalities. Most of whom are unable to string a sentence together or write their own name but have wealth beyond our dreams. Education appears to the young as a waste of time as most of their idols are mindlesss morons who speak in rap, type in text and greet each other with grunts. They think poetry is for puffs, maths is for nerds and English is for egg heads or a type of breakfast.
So as a parent all you can do is your best for your children and family. Make ends meet and enjoy the simple pleasures in life.
I could go on but I have to catch the bus to Beachy Head. Single please conductor.

but we should try to make things better marek
im never a defeatist
alternative is to grave tio think about

ALL POSTS ARE MY OWN PERSONAL VIEWS
Marek - I wake every morning with those same sort of thoughts. It's a killer. Murdoch may move sideways (or not) but that simply creates a void into which another madman with money will move. People are dying in droves in Sudan and across the African Continent and we are a bit miserable if we can't get our skinny latte. Our kids are in debt when they leave Uni and will be in debt when they are pensioners being fleeced for their care. I am not sure, sometimes, how I get out of bed and get to work where I can pretend I make a difference.

Bern
You put it far better than I could..Keith said it's a defeatist attitude...I suppose it is but it's much much more. It's about being brought up to be polite but only having it thrown back in one's face.
It's about being derided for one's religious beliefs.
It's about caring for others as society seems hell bent on becoming more insular.
Where caring for the elderley is measured in a profit and loss account and not in their quality of life.
Where having kids are seen as a passport to council housing and a life on benefits.
Where further education is to become available only to a privileged few with parents able to afford or willing to go into debt to pay for it.
Where drugs are used by the rich as a social past time and by the poor as a means of escapism.
So we do what we can for ourselves and others but until there is real shift in what we want and get from politicians with real vision for the future it appears thats all we can do. Bear the above in mind when this week a British scientist said that the kids of today could live to be a 160 years old and that by the end of the century with advances in cell stem research etc there are no valid reasons why humans will not be able to reach a 1000 years old.

best never to rely on politicians to make changes for the better long term they only have a 4 or 5 year shelf life.
the age thingy will be solved by us either drinking, eating or smoking too much, if that fails eating too little will do the trick.
