NOISE ACTION WEEK
Dover District Council is getting ready to make a big noise to help keep our communities informed and to help promote Noise Action Week, which runs from 23-27 May.
A special roadshow is taking to the streets during the week, and members of the Environmental Protection Team will be on hand to let people know about a range of noise issues. A marquee will be setting up at the following locations:
· Monday 23 May - Dover Market Square from 9.30am to 1pm
· Wednesday 25 May - in front of the Guildhall, Sandwich from 9.30am to 1pm
· Thursday 26 May - Deal High Street from 9.30am to 1pm.
Members of the team are also visiting Sandwich Technology School to speak to pupils in Public Services class about noise issues, people's responsibilities to others, and the work carried out by the Environmental Protection Team to help address noise matters.

My personal worst noise annoyance used to be barking dogs.

- 22 May 2011 08:37107264I dont know if that would qualify as 'noise' Mark. That very sound used to remind me that summer had arrived. Dont hear or see much of ice cream vans now...not down on the seafront. Although if they disturb young kids while sleeping I can see how it could be a pain.
One thing we do get annoyed with down here being next to a carpark, is the inevitable car alarm. Touch wood but the manufacturers seem to have improved them a tad in recent times as they dont seem to be as bad or as sensitive as they used to be.
Although I havent spoke tooo soooon I hope....

People would generally spend less on petrol too, so it would be a benefit all the way round.

22 May 2011 15:08107303Alexander, I fail to see your logic. I understand the public transport bit but how is the electricity produced without producing pollution of some kind while being made.
Electric cars are being fitted with added noise so the blind can hear them, there was a item on TV the other day about them. By the way what noise does pollution make, none that I know of.
People might spend less on petrol but public transport is not exactly cheap so very little or no benefit there.-----------------------------------------------------------------------
I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

- 25 May 2011 12:32107632Need to be careful with slow worms. They are a protected species and it is an offence to disturb their habitat. We have some in the pub garden and they are brilliant.
